If you have made the decision to assess/reassess your career direction, then it will be a good idea to make a start straight away. No decisions need to be made too hastily – it is simply the right time to get to know yourself better and work out what things are truly important for your future.
A number of phases have been developed for a new career search, with each phase containing a number of activities to be completed. These activities will take varying amounts of time but all will be rewarding and worthwhile in their own right, if done purposefully.
At every stage, make a note of any careers that may interest you – these will be researched later. When all phases are complete, you will have a deeper understanding of yourself, a good idea of potential career directions and more knowledge of how they may be acquired.
As this is going to be the start of the next chapter in your life, you should find a fresh note book in which to keep completed activities and your ideas organised.
